Man guilty of claiming false benefits

A man was convicted at Belfast Magistrates Court last week for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.
William Murphy, 47, of Sydney Street, Belfast, failed to declare his partner's earnings whilst claiming benefits totalling £4,545.
He was given a conditional discharge for 18 months.
Mr Murphy was also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 194 the number of successful prosecutions this year.
