Charity shop appeal for stock
Wednesday, 2 July 2008
The Cancer Research UK shop in Bloomfield Avenue, has opened its doors again after it was nearly destroyed last month.
The shop was forced to close when raw sewage came up through the floor of one of the fitting rooms. All stock had to be burned and the premises fumigated, with a new floor having to be laid.
The shop, which was officially re-opened last week by Glentoran footballer of the year Jason Hill is now in desperate need of new stock.
Area shop manager Linda Hobson appealed to local people to help fill the charity shop’s empty shelves.
Mrs Hobson said: “It takes 3,000 hanging items to fill the shop. We take everything from shoes, handbags, clothes and accessories.”
