Ever wondered what happens to those beauty lotions, perfume and alcohol bottles that you have to leave behind before going through airport security?

At Belfast International Airport they're put to good use by being given to charity and auctioned off to raise money.

We've all seen the huge see-through bins filled with everything from prohibited Swiss army knives to bottles of perfume.

But the folk at Belfast International make sure that the items that aren’t reclaimed are given to a good cause.

Staff at the airport's information desk make hampers of the items so that local charities can raffle them off to raise money.

And Friends of The Cancer Centre, FCC, at Belfast City Hospital were recent recipients of these banned items.

“This is the second time we have benefited from these hampers,” says Colleen Shaw, fundraising manager with FCC.

“The first hampers raised over £2,000. I am sure passengers will be glad to know that the items are going to an excellent cause.”
