Building work on the new Loughshore play area got officially under way last week.

The £235,000 project will see the play area transformed, tripling its current size. Users are set to benefit from modern play equipment, some of which will be unique to Northern Ireland. The park will have a seaside theme incorporating boats, fish, and a lighthouse climbing frame with slide.

The Newtownabbey Borough Council’s investment means the new play area will enhance the facilities already on offer at the popular Jordanstown Loughshore Park.

The construction work is to be completed by the end of August to coincide with this year’s Loughshore Festival.
