PSNI teams up with Ards driving school
Wednesday, 18 June 2008
The PSNI has teamed up with a Newtownards driving school to launch an innovative new programme for first time drivers.
Ian’s Driving School has launched ‘Test Plus’ which is a road safety education programme that aims to help prepare young and inexperienced drivers for more hazardous driving conditions, with the ultimate aim of saving lives.
It covers town driving; driving out of town; all weather driving; skidding; night driving; consideration for pedestrians, horses; dual carriageway and motorway driving.
This scheme is new and unique to Northern Ireland and although targeted primarily at young motorists, is offered to any newly-qualified driver.
Working closely with the PSNI’s Road Safety Branch, Ian’s Driving School manager Paul Campbell said the test is new and unique to Northern Ireland.
To date Ian’s Driving School have negotiated special offers with Charles Hurst Renault and further insurance offers with Hughes Insurance.
As a result, successful ‘Test Plus’ pupils will receive an additional two years no-claim bonus when they renew for the first time with Hughes Insurance.
Ian’s are also offering a deal whereby Hughes Insurance will guarantee to beat any other insurance quotation that a newly qualified driver receives if they have passed their driving test through having had lessons with one of Ian’s driving instructors.
Charles Hurst Renault will also provide valuable benefits to pupils from Ian’s if they purchase a new Renault Clio Expression or Clio Dynamique.
They will be given a £750 insurance contribution, one year’s free road tax and free metallic paint.
Ian’s provide a record, and paper trail, to show that all their new drivers have been trained on all the aspects of driving needed to both pass the test.
It is this aspect that has led Hughes Insurance, and Charles
Hurst Renault, to formally endorse the method and quality of the training provided by the instructors from the driving school.
Anyone wishing to find out further information on the new ‘Test Plus’ scheme, or to book a lesson, contact Ian’s Driving School on 0808 100 4267.
